The U.S. Consulate Medan is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Guard (Senior Guard).

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).

SENIOR GUARD Major Duties and Responsibilities


An experienced guard who provides supervision for up to forty guards at residences, CACs or in a Mobile Patrol Unit. Incumbent performs special duties, such as personnel inspections, provides limited work guidance on access control operations and routine security equipment maintenance.
Incumbent may conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for all guards.
Required to provide general incident reports to Guard Supervisor(s), to include submitting routine service of security equipment maintenance requests as required.
Incumbent responsible for updating guard attendance records and provide summary reports to the Shift Supervisor.


Operate two-way radio.
Operate Access Control Equipment (e.g. door control, gate control, barrier control)
Operate Personnel Screening Equipment (e.g. WTMD, HHMD, X-ray, and Itemizer)
Operate Vehicle Screening Equipment (e.g. Itemizer, inspection mirror)
Operate Mail Screening Equipment (X-ray, HHMD)
Conduct Vehicle/Pedestrian Inspections (Interior/Exterior)
Conduct Foot/Roving Patrols (e.g. compound, residence, parking lot, facility perimeter, mobile patrol)
Conduct Surveillance Detection Activities


Collaboration and frequent contact with Guard Supervisors.
Incumbent must make frequent contact with project management and local police or local neighborhood security in areas surrounding project facilities.
Collaboration with Surveillance Detection team (if applicable) for suspicious activities report.

Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two years of Embassy/Consulate, military, police, or private experience in the field of security required; of which 1 year of the experience must be as a line supervisor or working leader with responsibilities for coordinating a range of activities that involve directing, monitoring and redirecting actions of a team.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the Guard Orders, emergency notification process, experienced with state-of-the-art security equipment and processes, knowledge of local cultural norms and customs.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary education is required.



Limited knowledge level in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is required. (This may be tested).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and ability to operate the security control panel, emergency alarms, and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment. Ability to use First Aid Kit Trainings. Ability to use fire extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (i.e. PR-24, straight batons, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.). Daily duties may involve extended periods of walking and/or standing in a wide variety of weather conditions.

The incumbent must lead and provide guidance to guards assigned to his/her team. Must have the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, demonstrate reliability and be firm, courteous and tactful in a variety of situations. Must be able to comprehend orders and directives quickly. Ability to take clear and decisive action especially during emergency situation. Must have a valid driver's license (SIM C).


All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.
